Discovery Thrift

When Fred inherits his grandfather's thrift store, he plans to liquidate it quickly and get back to his real life. But the store's menagerie of enchanted objects has other ideas. The clothes rack wants to dance. Books insist on reading themselves aloud. An old tin whistle waits anxiously to toot its heart out. "Discovery Thrift" is a solo physical theater experience where a dead man's junk conspires — through movement, mischief, and an awesomely immersive soundscape — to rescue one workaholic from the life he built at the expense of actually living it.

I went to see Corey’s show and had such a great time. The kids in the audience were laughing the whole time, but what surprised me was how much the adults were laughing too. Corey has a great way of getting the audience involved and making everyone feel part of the show.

The energy was fun from beginning to end, and there was never a dull moment. It can be hard to find a show that genuinely entertains both children and adults, but Corey pulled it off perfectly.

If you’re looking for a Fringe show that’s family-friendly, funny, and just a really enjoyable experience, I definitely recommend checking it out.
Corey's performance in Discovery Thrift is the embodiment of what the story champions: whimsy. With catchy uke tunes, twists in wordage, energetic movement and mime, and breezy self-awareness, it's impossible to not root for the main character as he discovers what gives him life in the midst of a fading estate. The voices of the unseen characters are fun, and the give and take between performer and sound operator is fascinating. Discovery Thrift has something for everyone.
What a riot! Corey’s commitment to the bit, to physicality, and to the emotion of each moment drew the whole audience into a world of imagination that made a Spartan setting wildly believable as a cluttered wonderland of a thrift shop. The foley work added playful layers to the experience, and the way the way he engaged the audience was masterful. I hope to see more from this artist soon!

A whimsical romp absolutely worth seeing!
An honest and captivating one man show, that had me laughing almost the entire time. After seeing this, I’m inspired to embrace doing more creative things in my own life. Can I add more than 5 stars?
