NeuroSpicy: Love, Life, & Comedy on the Spectrum

Why a Stand-Up Comedy Special about the Spectrum, specifically Aspergers?

If someone had spent 60 minutes with me, 30 years ago, to explain how my brain was different,
my life would have been completely different.

This is the 60 minutes I wish I had, delivered with humor, to help understand and navigate the Normie world.

This Stand-Up Comedy Special is for you if:

  1. 1. You, a friend, or a family member is on the Spectrum,
  2. 2. You are a Normie who knows someone on the Spectrum, or
  3. 3. You are "NeuroSpicy" curious.

Be sure to watch the Trailer and invite friends!

Sam loved Stand-Up Comedy since he was 6 years old from watching and memorizing comedians on TV. He first performed for a crowd 500+ in 2005 in grad school, and again in 2006, 2007, and 2008, much to the laughter of his classmates (and to the chagrin of his professors).  Recently, he's performed in the 2021, 2022, 2023 Boulder Comedy Festivals, featured at The Dairy Arts Performing Center, headlined in Boulder, and performed at multiple other venues in Colorado since 2019. He's also performed comedy in Texas and New Zealand.

Sam's comedy style is clean, witty, and observational, inspired by comedians like Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Gaffigan. He also includes fun impersonations, such as his personal favorite...David Attenborough. You can watch highlights from his prior shows on his YouTube playlist here: bit.ly/samuelcomedyclips.

During daylight hours, he's a functional medicine practitioner (www.DrSamShay.com) specializing in lab testing and genetics testing for optimal health and performance. He includes humor in consults with his clients, as laughter is the best medicine, second only to a good diet and pooping daily. :)

Sam put on a great show! It was illuminating to hear about his particular experience with Asperger's, and I wholeheartedly recommend his comedy!
Sam is a talented, creative, and remarkably resilient human being. His passion for human connection and what it means to show we care about others (particularly those of us who are neurospicey!) was presented to the audience with such a mischievous and refreshing style. Most notable for my neurodivergent daughter and I, was that Sam delivered his comedy with such authentic kindness that I was moved to tears.
If you haven't yet decided to go to his show-- GO. Go to the show. Do it, and do it now. Add to cart, invite a friend or loved one, and enjoy an experience that'll make you laugh, and perhaps allow for more enriched relationships for the neurocpiceys in your life!
Neurospicy was funny, informative and moving. Sam Shay brings personal vulnerability, humor and warmth to this show. The audience walks away with a deeper understanding of life on the spectrum, the importance of belonging, and caring for one another.
Incredible performance!! I've been wanting to see Sam on stage for a while now and I'm so glad that I finally made it out to witness how amazing and talented he truly is. Sam does an exceptional job at combining his truth, wisdom, knowledge, vulnerability and experiences through humor. He painted a raw and beautiful picture of what it is like to walk in his shoes and it created a feeling of empathy, appreciation and deeper love for him. I couldn't be more proud and honored to know him personally and I'm in awe of his journey and who he is as a person today. I can celebrate you Sam and your mission to create more awareness, inclusivity and understanding in the world.
This show was equal parts educational, heart-warming, expansive, and hilarious. I appreciated how the learning felt effortless, the emotional journey was wide, and I have tools to take with me into the "real" world. A beautiful display of one of the many human experiences!
The way Sam brings humor through wisdom and truth, blending his vulnerable sharing of personal experiences, supported by his professional credentials in Neurodiversity. His ability to help people laugh at their own quirks in response to his raw punchlines cracks his audience open to more understanding and inclusivity.
This was one of the funnest comedy shows I've seen. Sam was heartwarming, honest, vulnerable, and hilarious. It's the first time I've shed tears at a comedy show (and not from laughter!). And more importantly, this is such an important topic. Cutting the topic of neurodivergence with humor makes it relatable. It's easy to learn when you're laughing. I hope Sam's messaging gets spread far and wide!
This was a beautiful body of work. I thoroughly enjoyed the all colorful stories of life on the spectrum. Sam does a wonderful
job at making the crowd feel seen and reminding us all the importance of connection.
Sam’s show is so unique and raw. It’s hilarious and inspirational. The way he tackles the complexities of being a neurospicy person interacting with the world at large in such a vulnerable, intelligent and humorous way is a gift to all who are able to see. You’ll laugh and you’ll cry. Whether you can relate or you learn something new, this is a don’t miss show.
Sam’s performance was all the layers of intellectual stimulation, storytelling & educational heart warming comedy.

It was nuanced and deeply inspiring seeing his performance & hearing his stories- gave me some of the best laughs I’ve had in a while! It helped me to bridge issues understanding someone dear to me who is on the spectrum, opening my heart with tears and tenderness all the while laughing in recognition of the pieces of myself (in my own experiences of neurodivergent “spiciness”). It was an incredibly human powerful performance and should be seen by the masses because this message is so important! Normies & neurospicy folks can indeed coexist with care, kindness and love. He has his own formula to break it all down for folks who want to understand. ;) Absolutely a must see!!
