Sandy
In an attempt to save her broken relationship, she bought a doll, a thing, to help satisfy him – to do all the things she can’t. But it costs her more than she ever imagined, and she begins to lose herself. Meanwhile, the lifeless doll she brought home becomes more and more alive.

Calla Horan (Sandy)
Calla Horan is an Actor from Denver Colorado. She attended the Institute of the Arts Barcelona for a BA in Acting. Some recent credits include Information for Foreigners, and The Eight Reindeer Monologues With the Wheat Ridge Theater company. Calla believes in the strength of a community to create unique ways of storytelling and sharing messages that mean something. She thinks that art can be a real tool for tangible social change.
Portia Joy Glommen (Her)
Portia has done theatre in the Colorado community for 14 years, and is so excited to participate in the Fringe Festival for the first time and take on the role of Her. Past credits include Suzette in Don’t Dress for Dinner, Cookie and Cassie in separate productions of Rumors by Neil Simon, Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet, Lucille in No, No, Nannette!, and Jackie Gill/Features Musician in Rock of Ages. When she isn’t on stage acting, she’s on stage as the vocalist and bassist of rock band Zodiac Turnpike. She gives all her love to the production team as well as her friend and castmate Calla!
George Knudtson (Stage Manager)
George Knudtson was born and raised in Wichita, KS, about seven hours east of Denver, the city he now calls home. Throughout his life, George and his family spent many summers (and winters) exploring the beautiful state of Colorado and enjoying the outdoor activities available. Professionally, George began working with Wheat Ridge Theater Company in 2023 as the stage manager for the Colorado debut of The Irish Curse. George is excited to continue working with all of the talented and passionate people at Wheat Ridge Theater Company. In his free time, George enjoys writing stand-up comedy and comedy skits, as well as watching through the entirety of the IMDb Top 250 Movies list.
Shyan Rivera (Asst. Stage Manager/Understudy)
Shyan is thrilled to be apart of Sandy with Wheat Ridge Theatre Company! This her second time working with WRTC, her first being in Zorro: The Musical! Her past roles include Betsy (Honeymoon in Vegas), Viola (Twelfth Night), and General's Daughter (Pirates of Penzance). She would like to thank everybody involved in the production of Sandy for making the show so amazing. She would also like to thank her family for their continued support and love. She hopes you enjoy the show as much as she does!
Mellisa Taylor (Director)
As a kid, Mellisa’s parents tried getting her involved with various dance and sports – all to no avail, due to her spectacular ability to fall and trip over air molecules. A deaf ear, combined with a distinct lack of interest in sports, meant that her efforts were better served in a capacity that didn’t require quite as much balance and coordination. So, they enrolled her in voice lessons in an effort to help her find her talent. Thankfully, it worked! Voice lessons led to musicals, which led to acting… which eventually led to directing with the Wheat Ridge Theatre Company. Mellisa also serves on the Board of Directors at the WRTC, and is grateful for the opportunity to work with such a wonderful and incredibly talented group of people.
