Teachers

Teachers is a comedic character showcase. And, no joke, it's got heart. You will progress through a whole school day and all of K through 12 simultaneously over the course of 55 minutes. During that time, you'll be visited by teachers of all sorts. Some of them are from your childhood. Some have no business being teachers. Some are in the audience! You'll laugh. You'll learn. Heck, you might even graduate.

Asa Erlendson is a performer with over 18 years of experience performing. (More if you count his 3rd grade class play audition.) He's done improv, stand-up, sketch, film, clown, mime, and burlesque one time. A couple times he was awarded "Best Male Improviser in Denver." He acted in a feature-length movie, "A Colorado Road Trip" (Joywreck Productions). He's performed at improv festivals from New York to Utah. That's right, he hasn't performed at a festival west of Utah. He loves to dance. He has a cat named Halloumi (like the Greek cheese). And he's thrilled to be debuting his one-man show, Teachers, at the Denver Fringe Festival in 2026.

Asa’s teacher show was incredible. He has a most unique sense of humor and plays an array of characters that give you that “aha” of yes! I know that one well. I especially loved his artist.
Asa found a real novel way to tell a coming age of story through comedic but believable teachers. I enjoyed the feeling of how he guided us and the way we progressed as an audience from kindergarten to high-school. It was a fun way to experience the feeling of its the journey not destination. I think the principal character was a good anchor but could use more of an arc especially since we see him in the end but not in the way we expect. Overall great time and I hope Asa does it again.
I have to say, I was unable to see the show in person do to living far far away. But if I had any way to teleport or even one wish from a genie it would be to this show. Asa has never disappointed when it comes to a performance. He is both talented naturally a sort of innate gift that rolls off to tongue and silences a room, or causes it to erupt in laughter. It’s also important to note his exceptional technique of documenting his process and evolving through deep research and exploration into how he can personally improve and evolve in his craft. I’ve taken his class, I’ve seen him perform and though I missed out on this performance I’m envious of anyone who caught it live. I am a huge fan of this man and what he is doing in the field of improv. Truly a legend.
As a fromer educator Asa nailed the "teacher look"--with only their eyes they said so much. Each character felt familiar and real. The show was brilliant.
Teachers was a masterclass in improv with a wonderful cast of characters that I’d love to spend the school year with
Teachers is a fun, whimsical, and interactive show. The character work is remarkable; each teacher feels fully realized and distinct. Asa transformed the audience into a classroom community. I didn't feel like I was watching a show, I felt like I was sitting alongside my classmates, participating in the experience. Funny, inventive, and skillfully executed from start to finish!
